Indian Parliament passes the new Right to Information Bill, 2005.
The Right to Information Bill, 2005, replacing the Freedom of Information Act, 2002 has just been passed by the Lok Sabha (House of the People) of the Indian Parliament. The bill will now be passed to the Upper House of the Parliament, Rajya Sabha (House of the States) and then will be sent to the President of India for his assent and signature turning it into an Act of Parliament. But the bill, de facto, can be already said to be in place among the laws of the country.
